    The power of the blog!

Earlier this week on this blog I called on Conservative Assembly leader Nick Bourne to say where he stood on the Assembly. Well, according to today's Western Mail, he has now declared himself in favour of law-making powers, so I guess we can now say he won't be campaigning for the abolition of the National Assembly in Michael Howard's proposed referendum.

This contrasts of course with his leader, Michael Howard, who continues to assert, on the same page, that he will offer a referendum on the continuation of the Assembly if elected.

He won't be elected, of course. But if the Tories want to put the Assembly's future on the agenda then we have every right to ask them individually how they would vote. Which way would (say) David Davies vote?

I have only been able to link to the Howard article. There seems to be a problemn with the Western Mail online version today.
