    Real World

One of the issues that has caused me most concern over the last nine months has been the future of the United Polymers factory in Maerdy, which went into administration in the autumn. It is worth recording then that the administrators completed the sale of the factory to a team committed to keeping the factory in Maerdy with 136 employees on Thursday. The bid had support from the Assembly and from the Welsh Development Agency. Sadly there will be further redundancies, but the end result is that we are keeping a factory with a significant workforce in one of the most deprived wards in Wales.
