Political Cartoons
There is a competition in History Today to find the greatest political cartoon of all time, from a top ten chosen by Tim Benson, founder of the Political Cartoon Society. He has certainly picked some of the classics. There are limits to the selection. First, these are one-offs, so you could not get cartoon series such as Steve Bell's If... or Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury. Second, although several depict international events, they are all UK-based cartoonists. Third, the last forty years or so is not represented - the latest is Vicky on Supermac. This means no Trog, Garland, Ralph Steadman etc.
Still, it's a fun idea. This WW2 cartoon by Zec is one of the greatest, and was, I think adapted by another cartoonist during the Falklands War. To read the article is free, but you may need to register on the History Today website first.
Separately from all this, I have found a Political Cartoon website where you can pay to re-use cartoons.
