RIP Arthur Miller
It's only right to mark with sadness the passing of the greatest playwright of the twentieth century, Arthur Miller. Among many tributes over the weekend, this farewell in the New York Times by the playwright David Mamet is certainly worth reading. Astonishingly, Miller was never awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. Among the many productions of Miller's plays I have been lucky enough to see, Michael Gambon's performance in A View from the Bridge stands out. I remember seeing the last night of that production in London in the late eighties.
