BBC Drama 'Faith'
Well, I watched the BBC drama 'Faith' yesterday and couldn't see what the fuss was about. Nothing really there to offend even John Whittingdale, unless he wants to claim Thatcher actually didn't say the things she said! The issues of conflict were played out in individual characters. Nobody, really, including the union leadership, was glorified. Nice touch having a go at the BBC's own coverage of the miners' strike - the subject of several books after the event.
If anything, I thought some of the characterization a bit predictable and stereotyped. Also, the politics within the Union was over-simplified. (The Yorkshire situation of course was different from that in Wales.)
But there was no reason why the BBC should not have shown it.
