Wartime plans for Queen to be used against Plaid Cymru

Apparently the Queen (Or Princess Elizabeth, as she was then) was to be used as a secret weapon against Plaid Cymru in the Second World War.

Plans were hatched during World War II to use the future queen to counteract growing Welsh nationalist discontent.

A secret file has revealed that there was growing concern over the influence of Plaid Cymru - especially in the north Wales.

One suggestion was to affiliate the then teenage Princess Elizabeth to the Urdd as a way of diffusing tensions.

Saunders Lewis was a great one for royalty, apparently.
