Rhodri spells it out
Sensible piece by the boss on the future of the EU Budget in the Western Mail today, based of course on his statement to the National Assembly last week. The Nats and the Liberals of course care nothing for how the issue of the UK rebate is tackled: as a unionist party, unlike the other two, we recognise that Welsh interests are not served by giving up the rebate without getting anything in return. It is, as Rhodri says, worth more than Objective 1 on a per annum basis in expenditure terms to Wales.

I think that you will find that the Liberal Democrats also believe that the rebate should be retained unless there is a fundamental reform of the EU budget. Can't answer for the Liberal Party of course!
