    Cymer Fi!

Last night S4C started its entertaining documentary series on Ysgol Gyfun Cymer. As the S4C website puts it in English:

One area that's seen a big rise in the number of children receiving their education through the medium of Welsh is the Rhondda, and despite the fact that the majority of their parents can't speak Welsh.

The six part series Cymer Fi which starts 9 September 8:25PM charts the experiences of youngsters who live in an area where the community is rediscovering the Welsh language.

You can see a clip from last night's film which was about how schoolgirl Hannah Griffiths, from Tylorstown, brushed up her singing with the aid of West End star Shan Cothi.

The series has been made for S4C by the TV company Green Bay, set up by those two Rhondda boys Phil George and John Geraint. John is the executive producer on this particular series, which has been produced by Amanda Rees.

And S4C of course rightly describes the Rhondda as 'Wales's most famous valley'!
