    Digital TV reception

In Culture questions yesterday I mentioned the question of digital TV reception in Valleys, constituencies, and the Culture Minister agreed to raise it with his Westminster colleagues:

Leighton Andrews: This is an issue of great concern in many Valleys constituencies, where Freeview reception is not largely available. I endorse the call by Mick Bates for further support for the Freesat service. I urge you to take that up in discussions with Ofcom, with your colleagues in Westminster, and with broadcasters to ensure its availability at a price that is affordable.

Alun Pugh: I will indeed. Freesat has the option of making wider coverage available in difficult-to-reach areas, such as the Valleys. The position of the digital terrestrial signal will improve following switch-off, because, at the moment, there are big problems with bandwidth. The situation for terrestrial digital will be greatly improved after the analogue switch-off.
