    Remembrance

Good to see that RCT is investing in the recording of people's memories of the Second World War. There is a great opportunity here for generations to come together and discover history together. Earlier in the year, the Ark Project in Tonypandy received money from the Big Lottery Fund's Home Front initiative to undertake similar work with pupils from secondary schools learning from their grandparents' and other senior citizens. A DVD of this project has been made. You can find a description of it in the Llwynypia Communities First newsletter.

According to the RCT Press Release, the new scheme also has the backing of Home Front:

The reminiscences will be added to the Council’s Online Heritage Trail, a new web site that provides historical descriptions of the communities of Rhondda Cynon Taf alongside digitised maps, photographs, illustrations and letters taken from the local history collections.

The ‘Reminiscence Project’ was made possible by funding received from the Lottery Home Front Recall fund and with the generous assistance of the Friends of Rhondda Heritage Park.
