    Heads of the Valleys scheme

Treherbert and Treorchy in the Upper Rhondda Fawr will now be added to the wards covered by the Heads of the Valleys scheme.

The news was announced in the Assembly Chamber by Enterprise Minister Andrew Davies yesterday in response to my question.

I have been campaigning for the Upper Rhondda Fawr to be included in the scheme for the past eighteen months. I have raised it regularly with the Minister in letters and also raised it in public in the Assembly’s Economic Development and Enterprise Committees.

This is good news for the Upper Rhondda Fawr. The Heads of the Valley scheme is focused on a coordinated approach to the regeneration of the Valleys. I have always believed that these wards should have been included.
