    Tonypandy Market

I am supporting plans to bring back Tonypandy Market to the pedestrianized area of Dunraven St. The plans were discussed at the Tonypandy Town Centre Forum on Friday. The Forum is supportive of the proposal.

I received a petition from many Tonypandy residents, organised by the Tonypandy and Llwynypia Old Age Pensioners’ Association. I have passed this to Tonypandy Councillor Craig Middle who will be handing the petition to the Council.

A lot of local people, particularly pensioners, want to see the market reinstated. They feel that the current market off the inner By-pass road is inconvenient. They also believe that moving the market to the Main Street will bring more people into Dunraven St. This petition shows the strength of feeling.
