    Clacton follows Rhondda TV!

The Conservative MP for Harwich, Douglas Carswell, has launched Clacton TV. It has a surprising number of similarities to Rhondda TV, including a report on his Parliamentary Week and the opportunity - not so far taken up - for community groups to supply their own videos to the site. We have been hosting community videos and providing reports on my assembly Week since September.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery of course!

Clacton TV has been professionally-designed by an organisation called Politicos Design. Whether they are linked to the old Politicos bookshop, run by Tory Blogger Iain Dale, I have no idea. Carswell was one of the authors, with Iain Dale, of the publication Direct Democracy. (Thanks to this site for that information).

Where Clacton TV scores is in the technical quality of its video. Whereas we use Google Video for Rhondda TV, they seem to have a bespoke service. This is something we are looking at, because we want to improve the technical quality of Rhondda TV. Our first objective was getting on-line cost-effectively.

Anyway, Carswell's entry into this arena will help to give it a higher profile - the Independent gave him coverage on Saturday. We had the Guardian Media section, of course.
