    Sir Stanley Baker Lounge

I was pleased to be part of the opening of the Sir Stanley Baker lounge in Ferndale Rugby Club

today. Sir Stanley's widow, Lady Ellen, performed the opening, and there were several members of the family there, including his sister Muriel.

Some of those who sang in the film Zulu, like Trevor Rees Morgan were there as well.

As I said in my vote of thanks to Lady Ellen, Stanley Baker never forgot Ferndale, and Ferndale certainly hasn't forgotten Stanley Baker. And nor has Blaenllechau either.

The BBC filmed and recorded the event, and Owen Money was there to present his afternoon show. This had to be recorded in the end, instead of going out live, because of a technical problem. It will be broadcast on Monday.

The Stanley Baker lounge has memorabilia from Sir Stanley's career, rather like this.

The Ferndale Rugby Club has gone from strength to strength. Well done to John Evans, Alun Clement, Alwyn Davies and everyone else.
