Opposition shambles over Assembly Budget
The Opposition in the Assembly fell apart yesterday over the Assembly Budget. We tabled it. They objected, saying - in a press conference of the three Opposition leaders (shade of the Tory-led coalition Wales could face if people don't come out and vote Labour in May)- they would vote against it next week. Tory AM Alun Cairns describes it thus. His Tory colleague Glyn Davies describes it even better ). And the Tory leader in Wales confirms his enthusiasm for a coalition.
Then, Plaid Cymru's leader, Ieuan Wyn Jones said, uh, that they wouldn't. As Alun Pugh said to me yesterday, not so much a u-turn as a handbrake-turn.
Who had their hand on the handbrake?
The Western Mail has a good account of Plaid's shambles.
