    Remember Ron Davies?

    No, not that one.

The former Welsh footballer, described by Sir Matt Busby as the finest centre-forward in Europe.

The Observer yesterday ran a profile on how he is now living with his wife in New Mexico in a mobile home.

I never saw him play live, but I remember watching him on television in black and white when Wales played Scotland on 3 May 1969 in the Home Internationals - the forward line was Ron, John Toshack, and Wyn Davies. Ron scored two of our goals and Tosh the other one. But Scotland scored five.

Ron played for Southampton and Saints fans have set up a fund for him called Give it to Ron
