    DARE Awards

We had the annual DARE awards (Drug awareness awards) tonight, appropriately in the Parc and Dare again. The schools do presentations in music and drama on what they've learned, then the young people get certificates. The scheme was started by Cllr Paul Cannon, now Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Housing, when he was a Police Inspector. Tonight we had the Chief Constable, Barbara Wilding, speaking, and Social Justice and Regeneration Minister Edwina Hart also presented certificates. The work of PC Geraint Jones in all the schools was evidently well-appreciated by the kids.
