University Merger off after No-confidence
I commented below that lecturers at UWIC had passed a vote of no-confidence in their Vice-Chancellor.
I returned from a week's holiday today to find a letter from the Vice-Chancellor of Newport saying that his institution and UWIC had decided to postpone their merger after all. The Western Mail covered this while I was away.
There needs to be greater collaboration, and probably merger, between some of the higher education institutions in South-East Wales. It seems strangely hard to pull off. Maybe the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales needs to push it harder.
