    Kettle on Hain

I was sitting next to Martin Kettle at Peter Hain's wedding in 2003, so I can testify to the accuracy of his report yesterday on Max Boyce's brutal but entertaining remarks about Lord Levy.

We had bought Peter and Elizabeth a piece of pottery which I managed to drop and smash as we arrived at the lunch. So when Roy Noble passed me the microphone, my opening line was easy: 'Peter may no longer think the Rhondda is in safe hands....'
