Ferndale is proud of its link with Stanley Baker, and today at the Ferndale Festival in the beautiful Darran Park, the 1879 Group appeared to give a demonstration:
Earlier this year the Ferndale Rugby Club opened its excellent Stanley Baker Lounge which is a good place to watch Wales's away rugby internationals! The 1879 Group was formed at the South Wales Borderer's Museum in Brecon in 1998 by a small but dedicated group of people who had a consuming interest in the Anglo - Zulu War of 1879, many inspired, it must be said, thanks to Stanley Baker's film, Zulu, made in 1963.
