    Americans in the Rhondda (1)

Leading officials from Pennsylvania visited the Rhondda this week on a fact finding mission to look at some of the major environmental and regeneration projects undertaken in mining communities in the South Wales Valleys.

Scott Roberts, Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Al Whitehouse, Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, US Department of the Interior, visited on Monday January 21.

I showed them the reclamation of the Cambrian Colliery site and the memorial to the miners, and they also visited the Communities First office in the Clydach Vale Community Centre.
