    Welsh Tory devolution shambles

As I said two weeks ago, the Tories are in a real mess on devolution. Michael Howard is offering a choice of options in a referendum - more powers, keeping things as they are or scrapping the Assembly.

Bill Wiggin, his Shadow Welsh Secretary, wants the Assembly abolished.

Nick Bourne, Leader of the Welsh Conservative group in the Assembly, doesn't.

According to the BBC, a majority of Welsh Tory Assembly Members apparently favour more powers.

Labour will go into the election committed to more powers for the Assembly, as agreed in our document Better Governance for Wales.

But the Tories are committed to cutting the number of Welsh MPs, whether there is an Assembly or not.
